I love floral prints and in the middle of winter (when I actually made this) in Wisconsin this felt like exactly what I needed – a sweatshirt that reminded me of a tropical climate. I ordered the fabric from Girl Charlee. It has about 20% stretch but is a little thinner than other french terry. I used the Grainline Studio Linden Sweatshirt pattern.
I wore this during the winter on days when I need a pick me up but I also took this to a recent trip to Hawaii for throwing it on over a swimsuit after getting out of the cold water or bringing on cooler morning mountain hikes.
I ended up using the fabric for the cuffs and neckband instead of ribbing. I left the band off of the bottom of the sweatshirt to give it a more beachy feel. I surged the bottom edge and turned it up one inch. I then topstitched it in place using a double jersey needle. Other than that I just used the same adjustments as with my first Linden.
I love the fabric. It looks so soft and comfortable.
